Presenting vibrant and diverse traditions of Dance, Music & Storytelling to Karachi's NAPA Zia Moheyuddin Theater. This event, featuring the resident performers of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, celebrates the enduring legacy of South Asian culture, presenting a rich tapestry of folk arts. Audiences will be transported through time with performances that highlight the epic narratives, spiritual rhythms, and classical dance forms that define our region’s artistic heritage.
The Performers:
Jessica and Zekria Iqbal - Witness the elegance and precision of South Asian & Classical dance with the father-daughter duo, Jessica and Zekria Iqbal. Trained by Ms. Naila Riaz, their performances reflect a deep passion for the dance form, showcasing intricate footwork, expressive gestures, and powerful storytelling through movement.
Raja Mughal - Be captivated by the extensive experience and creative choreography of Raja Mughal. With over three decades in dance, film, theater, and commercial performances, Raja’s expertise shines through his dynamic and engaging presentations, blending traditional dance with modern elements.
Fazal Jatt - Dive into the epic tales of Punjab with Fazal Jatt, who follows in the footsteps of his renowned father, Ashiq Jatt. His performance of Nautanki brings to life stories like Heer Ranjha, Dulha Bhatti, Mirza Sahibaan, and Sohni Mahiwaal. Fazal’s powerful vocals and the rhythmic beats of the Dhol offer an electrifying experience of Punjabi folk theater.
Saein Abbas - Feel the spiritual energy of the Qalandari Dervishes through the masterful Dhol drum and Dhamaal grooves of Saein Abbas. Known for bringing the ecstatic rhythms of shrine music to urban audiences, Saein’s "Dhol Dhamaal" project infuses the traditional with a contemporary vibe, creating a mesmerizing auditory journey.
