While Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation in Bin Qasim, Karachi, is known as the parent company, Amreli Steels Limited is a fully automatic re-rolling mill that works with them. The company has been around for more than 50 years and started out by investing in hand hot-rolling technology and setting up four re-rolling mills all over Pakistan. In the 1970s, the group put money into the ship-breaking business to keep its mills running. By the beginning of the 1980s, a big rise in both quantity and quality was expected. To meet this need, Amreli Steels got rid of all of its hand re-rolling mills and brought in a fully automatic mill that uses the newest rolling technology in the world.
