Database Administrator - Teradata Performance

What You’ll Do:

  1. Manage Production/Development databases performance.
  2. Review Teradata system reports and provide “performance assessment” report with recommendations to optimize system.
  3. Investigate and quantify opportunities from “performance assessment” reports.
  4. Apply best practices in each of the areas.
  5. Monitor using Viewpoint tool for Teradata system performance using different portlets.
  6. Review poor performing queries generated from BI/ETL tools and provide best practice recommendations on how to simplify and restructure views, apply PPI or other index changes.
  7. Closely monitor the performance of various work groups on the system and make sure data is available to business as per the SLA requirement.
  8. Optimal index analysis - Review Index usage on tables and recommend adding dropping indexes for optimal data access.
  9. Review uncompressed tables, analyse its usage, and implement compression to save space and reduce IO activity – using various algorithms like MVC/ BLC/ ALC.
  10. Optimize locking statements in views, macros & queries to eliminate blocking contention invest.
  11. Review the Spool Limits for the users and recommend optimal limit for the Ad-hoc users to avoid run away queries over consuming system resources.
  12. Check for Mismatch data types in the system and make them unique to avoid costly translations during query processing.
  13. Review Set tables and check for the options to convert to MultiSet to avoid costly duplicate row checking operation.
  14. Review Large Scan Tables on the system and analyze for using PPI, MLPPI, Compression, Secondary indexes & Join Indexes
  15. Analyze various applications and understand the space requirements and segregate the disk space under the categories of perm, spool, and temp space.
  16. Setting up the database hierarchy that includes database creation and management of objects such as users, Roles, Profiles, tables, views.
  17. Maintain profiles, roles, access rights and permissions for Teradata user groups and objects.
  18. Generate periodic performance reports using PDCR and identify bottlenecks with the system performance.
  19. Establish PDCR canary performance baselines. Utilize standard canary queries to identify variance from baseline.
  20. Effective usage of TASM & Priority distribution to penalize the resource intensive queries, Give high priority to business-critical workloads, Throttling of different workloads for optimal throughput and provide performance reports to check workload management health.

What You’ll Bring:

  1. Experience in review of poor performing queries and provide best practice recommendations on how to simplify and restructure views, apply PPI or other index changes.
  2. Statistics Management and Optimization
  3. Exposure to DWH Env (Knowledge of ETL/DI/BI Reporting).
  4. Exposure to troubleshoot the FastLoad / Multiload/ FastExport/ BTEQ/ TPump errors, should be good at error handling.
  5. Experience in fine tuning various application parameters/number of sessions to ensure optimal functioning of the application.
  6. Well conversant with various ticketing system/production change request/ Teradata Incident management.
  7. Should be good at automating various processes.
  8. Ability to write efficient SQL & exposure to query tuning.
  9. Preferably understand Normalization and De-normalization concepts.
  10. Preferable exposure to visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI.
  11. Preferably have good working knowledge on UNIX shell, Python scripting.

Database Migration Technical Lead

What You’ll Do:

Teradata Migration and Modernization Center of Excellence (COE) plays a crucial role in assisting our customers in migrating and modernizing their analytical ecosystems to the Cloud. The COE operates in close collaboration with regional teams and customer groups, diligently understanding their migration and modernization journeys to offer tailored roadmaps and solutions that align seamlessly with their business strategies.

The Team Lead is a crucial role that contributes to the success of migrating 3rd party databases on Vantage/Teradata. Team Lead responsibilities includes:

  1. Drive and lead end to end database migration projects successfully including data, database processes and ETL processes from non-Teradata to Teradata Vantage.
  2. Demonstrate strong leadership skill and capabilities to lead and bring optimum efficiency from a team of 6 to 8 team.
  3. Deliver hands-on migration POCs on Vantage.
  4. Analyze existing data architecture and design to be data architecture.
  5. Find out the modernization opportunities while migration.  
  6. Help our customers and partners in designing and planning the migrations.
  7. Analyze Netezza/Oracle/Snowflake etc. database ETL/ELT code to find out the patterns and build migration and testing strategy of migration.
  8. Document client’s current analytical ecosystem, application architecture and data flow from non-Teradata to Teradata Vantage solutions.
  9. Present technical implementation approaches to customers/onsite large teams.
  10. Mentor developers and other team members to deliver the expected outcome.
  11. Effective managing and navigating escalations involving onsite teams and customers.
  12. Guide teams in moving priorities and changes in scope. Estimate effort and schedule for the changes that arise during project execution.
  13. Thoroughly assess and proactively highlight project-related technical risks and corresponding mitigations to project stakeholders during meetings.
  14. Create documents and other relevant assets/learning.
  15. Look for automation opportunities to bring down the overall effort and schedule of the project.
  16. Learn new modern Vantage features and integrate in the solutions.

  5. Basic cloud certification in AWS/Azure or GCP.
  6. Fair understating of any one the Cloud storage services such as AWS S3, Azure Storage Services, and Google Cloud Storage.

Application Support Consultant - Datastage Admin

  1. Implementation and support of data warehouse workload including but not limited to:

This individual must have the skills necessary to understand the overall data warehouse architecture and work directly with customers to support their operational requirements. The consultant supports the data-warehouse environment with the specific toolset(DataStage) required by the customer.

Minimum Requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of the Teradata Database
  • In depth knowledge of ET, BI, or Open Source tools, and/or Teradata Applications
  • In depth knowledge of operations management and control
  • In depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts and appliances
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Lead Data Engineer

What You'll Do : 

  1. Translate the business requirements into technical requirements
