  1. Interpret medical information such as diseases or symptoms, and diagnostic descriptions and procedures for a given visit in order to accurately assign and sequence the correct ICD, CPT and modifiers.
  2. Medical coders are responsible in making sure the assigned codes meet all federal, legal and insurance regulations so service payments are obtained in a timely fashion.
  3. Coding professionals primarily have the task of organizing, compiling and translating the medical treatment information recorded by doctors. This could include information about symptoms, observations, treatment procedures, treatment outcomes, medical history etc.
  4. Checking medical charts for accuracy and completion
  5. Verifying signatures and medical data in computers.
  6. Clarifying information or diagnosis by communicating with healthcare providers Utilizing computer software to analyze data.
  7. Reviews bulletins, newsletters, and periodicals, and attends workshops to stay abreast of current issues, trends, and changes in the laws and regulations governing medical record coding and documentation.
  8. Develop and updates procedures manuals to maintain standards for correct coding, minimize the risk of fraud and abuse, and optimize revenue recovery.
  9. Implement and act in accordance with MTBC’s information security and privacy policies.
  10. Ensure compliance with information security responsibilities specific to your job role.
  11. Protect assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference.
  12. Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
