TCF is a non-profit organisation that is properly run. It was started in 1995 by a group of people who were worried about how bad education was in Pakistan. It is now one of the most important formal schooling groups in Pakistan. As of 2009, TCF had built 600 purpose-built school units across the country, which were home to 80,000 children. TCF wants more women to register, and almost all of its campuses have a 50% female ratio. There are 4,150 women in TCF's full Female Faculty. TCF also has a Teacher Training Centre in Karachi where its teachers can get ongoing training and get help with their daily tasks. In the places where TCF does business, 6,026 jobs have been created.
TCF wants to break down barriers based on class and wealth so that all Pakistanis can be agents of positive change. We think that everyone should be able to get a basic education, not just some people. Along with following the normal curriculum, we also work on building the character of each student so that they have strong morals and self-confidence.
To reach our goals, TCF is always looking for places in Pakistan that don't have enough schools to add to its network. A full land survey, analysis of the population, income level, number and quality of existing schools in the area, demand for new school units, availability of an easy-to-reach building site, availability of qualified teachers in the area, and other factors are used to decide where to put a school.
TCF is set up in Pakistan as a Company limited by promise under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. KPMG Taseer Hadi and Co. audits the company's books. The Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) has approved TCF as one of the top five organisations in terms of score. JCR-VIS Credit Rating Co Ltd. has given TCF a high non-profit organisation (NPO) governance rating of GR-8.
