SBC Training Consultant

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the SBC Specialist and in close coordination with the Training Officer, the consultant will perform the following duties and responsibilities.

Roles And Responsibilities:

  1. To support and conduct OBR cascade training in all provinces for SBC staff.
  2. Develop training plans, and a comprehensive training package with training methodology, lesson plans, and activities aligned with the training needs assessment.
  3. Adapt the national guidelines and training materials to have a gender-sensitive lens. The training will aim to equip the SBC officers, and Communication Response Teams with adequate skills to respond to an outbreak.
  4. Develop operational plans for training, communications, and logistical planning.
  5. Coordinate and manage the online/face-to-face training in close collaboration with Provincial SBC and country office.
  6. Conduct pre and post-assessment for the SBC training/training evaluation
  7. Update existing training modules and guidance, including the training manual for cascade trainings as per local requirements in coordination with provincial SBC and training unit country office.
  8. Offer on-the-job support to the province colleagues on outbreak response.

Expected Output:

  • All OBR cascade training conducted 100% in all provinces
  • Adapted training manual adapted to Pakistan context for online training on Polio Outbreak Communications
  • Adapted training manual for face-to-face training on Polio Outbreak Communications
  • Existing training manuals are updated and available for country office use
  • Support cascade training at the province

Expected Results:

  1. Training needs assessment available to guide training plan, methodology, and content
  2. Training manuals (Face to Face and Virtual) available to regions and countries for use
  3. Capacity of SBC/COMNet surge built-in endemic, outbreak regions in particular and in risk reduction and maintenance district in general
  4. Updated existing manuals available for the country use
  5. A detailed work plan at the beginning and monthly work plans thereafter (1st week of each month)
  6. Monthly report of activities summarizing key outcomes and mission reports (end of each month)
  7. Training report compiled and shared at the end of every training.
  8. One end-of-contract PowerPoint presentation to debrief relevant team members.
  9. One end-of-contract summary report

Essential Requirements: 

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: in public health, behavioral and/or social sciences (anthropology, sociology, psychology, social development, etc.)/ Social and Behavior  Change/ public health and health education or other related area. *A first University Degree combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree in the field of public health, behavioral and/or social sciences (anthropology, sociology, psychology, social development, etc.)/ Social and Behavior  Change/ public health and health education or other related area.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in training and development particularly in SBC is required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering capacity building in face-to-face and synchronous virtual environments.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating complex collaborative workshops and trainings
  • Proven track record in designing and facilitating large and complex multi-stakeholder processes for facilitative governance in different cultural and political contexts (>25 participants, multiple levels, results-oriented)
  • Understanding of SBC, media relations, crisis communication, digital engagement are preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Familiarity of polio program and knowledge of UNICEF SBC efforts would be an additional asset
  • Fluency in both Urdu and English required (both verbal and written). Pashto will be given additional prioritization within the selection process. Any other language skill would be an additional asset
  • Experience working in an emergency context would be preferable
  • Experience working in a polio programme, in a UN system or organization is considered as an asset.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English and Urdu is required.  Knowledge of other local languages is considered as an asset

Senior Adolescent Health Consultant

Job Overview

Seeking a consultant with a deep understanding of adolescent health issues, including mental health, to develop and implement tailored interventions addressing the unique challenges faced by adolescents in Punjab, Pakistan. Requires expertise in mental health program design, psycho-social assessment, and a nuanced understanding of the local context for effective intervention implementation.

Role and Responsibilities: 

  1. Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify the specific health needs of adolescents in Punjab, with a particular emphasis on mental health challenges.
  2. Conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and needs assessments to inform program development.
  3. Mapping of all the ongoing initiatives including mental health promotion and awareness campaigns.
  4. Conduct consultative sessions with stakeholders at the province and district level for the development of package for one district.

Qualification:

  • An advanced university degree and specialization (Masters or higher) in public health/primary Healthcare management is required.
  • *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • Strong academic background, well-prepared to apply evidence-based approaches to the development and implementation of adolescent health programs will be an asset.

Experience:

  1. A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in public health humanitarian work.
  2. Provincial Health department work experience and/or familiarity with District Health systems
  3. Expertise & necessary skills to address the diverse and complex health challenges faced by adolescents.
  4. Having previously served with UN agency will be preferred, with valuable experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  5. Exceptional organizational skills, ability to facilitate communication between various levels of management and partners and work independently in order to meet deadlines
  6. Expertise in Microsoft office especially Word, Excel & Power point with experience of data collection, analysis and report writing.
  7. Excellent analytical/IT skills to generate graphs and charts based on data analysis.
  8. Excellent skills to collect and analyse information and put in desired formats and software.

District Urban Immunization Consultant

MicroMerger (Pvt.) Ltd.

The District Urban Immunization Consultant will play a pivotal role in enhancing immunization services in urban areas, specifically in Lahore & Faisalabad districts of Punjab, Pakistan. With a focus on coordination, capacity building, and community engagement, the consultant will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of evidence-based integrated urban immunization strategies. Responsibilities include conducting outreach activities, mapping slums for vaccination initiatives, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the availability of key services and vaccines. The consultant will also contribute to intersectoral coordination efforts and support special immunization campaigns and awareness programs. Monthly reports and deliverables will be closely monitored to ensure effective progress towards program goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Functional coordination mechanism established to provide technical support to provincialEPI in the planning, coordination, implementation monitoring and reporting of evidence-basedintegrated urban immunization/health strategy and action plan at respective district (Lahore &Faisalabad) for enhanced immunization services.
  2. Provide technical support and optimal coordination for the capacity building of all districtvaccination staff and frontline workers on reviewing and regularly updating Integratedmicro plans for reaching zero dose and defaulters children and communities in low performingUCs and wards are available.
  3. Support the strengthening EPI activities including outreach strengthening in mega cities &work closely with government, partners, communities & CSOs for implementation ofintegrated EPI/heath activities in mega cities and districts with high zero dose and defaulterschildren / weak UCs.
  4. Support in conducting mapping of slums with DHA & EPI staff for ensuring mobilevaccination/camps in the area as per plan afterwards regularly.
  5. District and Provincial coordination and review meetings held at the respective district(Lahore & Faisalabad) and province for integrated urban immunization/health planned forimmunization activities including planning and participation in special events like WorldImmunization Week (WIW), World Health Day (WHD), HPV vaccine advocacy seminars andSIAs.
  6. To carry field monitoring visits of the routine immunization activities at fixed, outreach &mobile van and activities planned during special events like World Immunization Week (WIW),World Health Day (WHD) and SIAs. He will also visit urban dispensaries.
  7. To conduct community search of missed children, digital integrated referral at communitylevel through FLWs daily activities, and bi-annual detection campaigns, and following up onthe compliance of referral and coverage during RI.
  8. To identify zero dose and defaulter children through referral by community healthworkers digital detection and referral of missed children (ZD and defaulters) throughfrontline workers during daily activities and detection campaigns.
  9. To coordinate with DHAs and provincial EPI to ensure key services, vaccines,commodities, and medicines are available equally in all outreach sessions.
  10. To mobilize all required sectors (at district level), strengthening intersectoralcoordination with Nutrition, Child protection, MNCH, IMCI, Wash, Child Protection.
  11. To work with SBC teams to strengthen community capacity to detect and refer missedchildren using integrated referral slip or digital referral slip and strengthen their interactionswith health facility in urban slums and peri urban areas.
  12. To organize review meetings at district and sub-district level involving all sectorsconcerned in integrated outreaches.
  13. To ensure that all outreaches are integrated with a comprehensive package ofimmunization, MUAC and referral, ANC, PNC, IEC material and food fortification at least.
  14. To coordinate with other districts urban immunization and provincial consultants in theimplementation of agreed activities.
  15. Work closely and coordinate with EVM Coordinator regarding the district cold chainequipment inventory, implementation status of EVM IP and implementation of activities inupcoming FPP Plan for both RI and SIAs in the district.
  16. To support and coordinate Provincial directorate of EPI on EPI-PEI Synergy andintegrated services under the UHC agenda with DoH and Polio Emergency OperationsCenter (PEOC).
  17. Support the district to implement and monitor the SBC activities in district during anyspecial campaigns / seminars/ campaigns in district with academia on immunization.

Required Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in any area in Management, Public Health,Social Sciences, or other relevant Areas of specialization. A first University degree in arelevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience in EPI may beaccepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree. 

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in
  • Working with Public Health Programs planning and management in developing countrycontext.
  • Working in EPI related projects in Pakistan, provincial and district health, government,and context with good understanding of the existing health systems and EPI Programs.

Required Skills:

  1. In-depth knowledge of EPI Programs and experience of public health related projects andworking with Immunization Programs at provincial and district level will be preferred.
  2. Experience of community based social mobilization for EPI and familiarity with demand sideissues.
  3. Good written and verbal communication skills with effective coordination capacity.
  4. Good computer skills with expertise in Microsoft office especially Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  5. Good command on data analysis and report writing skills.
  6. Fluency in English is required and fluency in local language (Punjabi) is necessary.
  7. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) ora local language is an asset.
